Gael Petrina is a bass player/composer based out of Paris, France. Heavily rooted in Jazz and improvised music (Conservatoire National Regional de Paris), Gael can also be heard blending genres on the low end on a diverse pallet of musical styles tastefully. Jazz, rock, hip hop, electronica, classical and latin are meticulously executed allowing Gaël to perfom with some of the top international artists on the scene today logging in hundreds of shows at some of the most respected venues and festivals on all five continents. His unique cultural background Quito/LA/London/Paris is reflected in his current line up of projects German based The Natalie Kies Trio, french rock quartet Balinger, The Geoffrey Secco Quartet and the mexican jazz group Fro Trio, with whom Gael won all three prestigious La Defense Jazz Festival Prizes in 2013.
His main projects are: The Kandinsky Effect (U.S./France), The Sharik Hasan Paris Trio (Blue Frog Records – India), and Les Yeux D’la Tete (Fais et Ris Productions – France/Germany), IRISES.
When not on the road, or in the studio, Gael divides his time as a side musician for over 20 Paris-based projects, as a teacher, a photographer, a composer for Sirroco Films as well as simultaneously preparing his own electro/pop/rock band “Bootleg.”
